57th Annual Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade

After COVID-19 suspended the annual tradition last year, The Wilmington Jaycees are excited to be planning for the 57th Annual Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade to be held in Downtown Wilmington on Saturday, November 27th at 11am.
This year’s Parade will again feature:
- Local celebrities and dignitaries
- Marching and String Bands
- Community organizations
- Floats and attractions
- Your Favorite Cartoon Characters
- Santa Clause
- Letters to Santa – Elves will be accepting Christmas wish lists from children for Santa. Children who provide their name and address will receive a response from Santa in December.
Past Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parades have featured an outstanding selection of local and national celebrities: Luke Matheny, 2011 Oscar winner for Best Live Action Short Film; Aubrey Plaza, star of NBC Comedy “Parks and Recreation”; Vince Papale who inspired the 2006 movie “Invincible”; A.J. Melendez of “American Idol Juniors”; Sean Patrick Thomas Co-Star of CBS Drama Series “The District” and movies, “The Last Dance” and “Cruel Intentions”; Heavyweight Boxing Champion Michael Spinks; Middleweight Boxing Champion Bernard Hopkins; Olympic Gold Medalist Dionna Harris; Television Stars “ER” Evette Freeman; “Welcome Back Kotter” star Ron Pallilo; Singers – Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.; plus many other stars from Sports, Movies, Television, Theater, Publishing, Etc.
The Parade route is as follows
- Starts at 2nd &Market St.
- Travels North on Market St.
- Past Reviewing Stand at 10th & Market St.
- Parade ends at 11th & Market St.
Some road closures and restrictions will be in effect from approximately 9:00AM to 1:00PM.
Road closures and parking restrictions on the parade route will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. All vehicles will be restricted from using Market Street (between 2ndand 12th Streets), King Street (between 3rd and 12th Streets), and 4th Street between Walnut and Shipley streets. Also, all cross streets between Shipley Street and French Street will be closed (i.e., 3rd, 5th.6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th). The detours for Market Street and King Street are Shipley Street and Walnut Street respectively. The event will be staffed by Wilmington police officers to assist motorists with the detours.
The Wilmington Jaycees is a premier young people’s organization, affiliated with the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, made up of men and women between the ages of 21 and 40. The Jaycees help people through personal growth, leadership development, and community involvement.
